VA Medical Center Phase IV High-Density Mobile Storage
Montel, a pioneer of high-density mobile storage shelving system solutions, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the mobile storage solutions contract for Phase IV of the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System’s new 150-acre medical campus.
In conjunction with Montel’s local Authorized Distributor, Faciliteq Architectural Interiors of Las Vegas, this mobile storage solutions contract is part of the largest construction contract ever awarded by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. This $364.9 million hospital project includes building a seven-story, 790,000-square-foot medical center that will house a 90-bed inpatient care unit and a 20-bed mental health facility. The center will provide complete medical services, including ambulatory care, radiology, laboratories, a pharmacy, diagnostic and treatment clinics, and educational facilities.
For this new state-of-the-art medical campus, Montel’s scope in the project will involve the supply and installation of WIRED™ high-density powered storage systems, Mobilex mechanical storage systems, SmartShelf hybrid 4-Post shelving, and Aetnastak cantilever library shelving systems. “By selecting to install Montel’s powered storage systems with ground floor embedded wire tracks, WIRED’s innovative technology will optimize space conservation, offer unique safety and security features, along with a wide array of programmable options,” explained Joey P. Boudreau, Marketing Director at Montel. “To provide the Medical Center Security Office additional certainty and safety prevention once WIRED is installed, Montel will be offering ePulse, our newly remote monitoring and configuration software. With ePulse, Montel’s engineers are using the latest technology to ensure that our powered mobile storage products are as safe as they are functional and reliable”.
“Faciliteq is particularly pleased to have been able to work with Montel on this very exciting project,” said Lowell Philip, Director of Architectural Interiors at Faciliteq. “By bundling the Montel product with several other sections we were able to provide VA with a single source for a variety of their requirements. Working as a team with our strategic suppliers and Clark/Hunt Construction has enabled us to continue to expand our scope beyond the traditional office environment.”
A joint venture of RTKL of Washington, D.C., and JMA Architecture Studio of Las Vegas is the project architect. Other project partners include G.C. Wallace, Las Vegas, civil engineer; Syska Hennessy Group, Los Angeles, MEP engineer; and Degenkolb Engineering, San Francisco, structural engineer.
