Challenge
As the University of Texas-Pan American had a growing number of students and was outgrowing its previous library space, it needed to find a solution fitting its storage needs.
Objective
In order to optimize the needed library work areas for staff and students, UTPA wanted to create more library space for the growing collection of print materials.
Solution
Montel’s custom-design engineered library storage solution involved the supply and installation of its WIRED High-Density Powered Mobile shelving system mounted with Aetnastak® Cantilever Library Shelving.

- 136 WIRED® high-density powered carriages.
- 484 double face Aetnastak® Cantilever library shelving sections providing 206,220 linear inches of storage.

- Impact-resistant infrared floor-level safety sweeps on both sides of the aisles.

- Dual digital keypads on all moving carriages.

Benefits
As a result, they have been able to reorganize their collections and make them more accessible and user-friendly to students and faculty. Staff now have better control over the collections management. Also, the efficiency of Montel's high-density motorized storage system has doubled the storage capacity.
